After the great success back this summer, I made another journey into the magic world of Harry Potter and I came back with some ideas for Christmas presents.

I may be "ancient" (as some friends love to tell me), but the wonderful sensation of the pages of a book while you read it, feeling them under your fingers, the smell of paper is something that no new technology can substitute. Elf Mess

Ecco, uno non si può distrarre un attimo che gli Elfi combinano qualcosa
Questi sono gli Elfi preparati per questo Natale: rispetto a quelli ciccioni dell'anno scorso sono più snelli e hanno un vestito di cotone con fantasie natalizie. Ho provato anche a fare il collare in feltro, visto che l'abito così com'era non mi sembrava finito, bordato a punto catenella e con appesi tanti campanellini argentati.

Here you are the new Elves I prepared for this Christmas. They're not like the chubby ones I made the last years, these are thinner and have a Xmas-patterned cotton dress. I made them a felt collar too, as the dress seemed a bit unfinished. I decorated it with chain stich embroidery and added some tinkling silver bells.

Li ho messi in posa per fare le foto (possono essere appesi all'albero di Natale, hanno un cordoncino dietro la schiena e sono alti una trentina di cm punta cappello - piedi) e sono stati bravi.
Ma non appena mi sono girata... hanno staccato alcune palline dall'albero e si sono messi a giocare

We made the pictures and all was fine (they can be hung to the Christmas tree as thay have a small loop on the back). But as soon as I turned my back... they took off some balls from the tree and started playing around.
What a bunch of rascals!

Christmas Ornament Makeover (Bollywood Style)

Come da tradizione, Sant'Ambrogio è dedicato all'albero di Natale.
Sono sempre molto orgogliosa del mio albero, che cresce di anno in anno: ogni anno infatti mi ripropongo di avere un nuovo decoro da appendere. Molto spesso sono oggetti che acquisto in viaggio e che tecnicamente spesso non c'entrano nulla con l'albero di Natale, ma quando li appendo mi riportano là dove li ho comprati.
Quest'anno però è stato un anno strano in quanto a souvenir di viaggio, si vede che non ero in vena, ma non sono riuscita a trovare nulla (!) che mi soddisfacesse.
E mentre controllavole palline, mi sono accorta che molte sono banali classiche palline rosse/oro/ argento. E alcune erano anche un po' rovinate, l'attaccatura era rotta.
L'idea è stata immediata: visto che comunque avrei usato la colla a caldo (a rischio nuovamente delle mie povere dita) e visto che comunque la classica puntata alla fiera dell'artigianato si è conclusa con diverse passamanerie indiane, ho pensato di fare un piccolo makeover "Bollywood Style".

Un quarto d'ora ed ecco una manciata di "nuove" palline da appendere. Oro, lustrini, paillettes, nappine rosse... una meraviglia.

Ecco qualche immagine del mio albero.... prima che l'assassino di alberi di Natale faccia il suo lavoro (se guardate bene l'ultima foto, è già quasi in postazione...)

E visto che oggi è la festa di Milano, il mio bellissimo Duomo in una giornata di sole la scorsa settimana!!

Quest'anno a Natale regalo.... (2)

Altra ideuzza per un pensierino natalizio: le presine mix&match.
Per le casalinghe (disperate e non), per le amiche che adorano sfornare dolci e dolcetti le presine sono alleate indispensabili in cucina!
Quest'anno il set lo create voi: io ho scelto un'adorabile  fantasia con renne, babbi Natale, alberelli e omini di neve, tutte dal sapore un po' shaby e un po' distressed e l'ho abbinata ad un bordeaux con stelline.
Voi abbinate i personaggi.
Coraggio!!

Mix & match pot holders

This is another small idea for a little present: the mix & match pot holders.
For (desperate and non desperate) housewives, for the friend who loves to bake cakes and treats, the pot holders are indispensable kitchen allies.
This year you create the set: I have chosen a lovely fabric with reindeer, santas, xmas trees and snowmen, a little shabby and a little distressed and I have matched it with a deep burgundy with small stars.
You choose the carachters to match.
Come on, let's begin!!.

Quest'anno a Natale regalo.....

Sembra che il tutto stia tornando alla normalità.
Iniziamo quindi con le foto dei miei lavoretti natalizi, magari qualcuno sta cercando l'idea giusta per un pensierino... e articoli artigianali, fatti in un numero limitato di pezzi per poterli realizzare uno per uno con amore e cura è un'ottima idea, non vi pare?

So, let's start with some pics of  what I have created this year. Maybe someone is looking dor the right idea for a small present and some crafted objects, created in a limited number to have the chance to realize each of them with love and care is a perfect idea, don't you think?

Queste sono le ghirlande natalizie. Visto il successo dell'esperimento dell'anno scorso, quando avevo realizzato un paio di corone con omini di neve, quest'anno ho aggiunto altri personaggi alla classica corona ricoperta di lana: c'è ancora l'omino di neve insieme al gingerbread, alla renna e alla fatina dell'agrifoglio.

These are the Chirstmas wreaths. Last year I proposed and experiment of a couple of weraths with a snowman. They had a big success and I have added some charachters this year on the woolen wreath: we have the snowman (again), the gingerbread, the reindeer Rudolph with its bright red nose and the holly fairy.

La mia preferita è la fatina: amo questo modello di Tilda e realizzarlo con le stoffe natalizie e abbinare una sciarpina in pile è stato proprio bello.

Christmas Lab - Snowflake Angels

Non ho saputo resistere.
Quest'anno avevo in mente di fare solo fatine e angeli bianchi e azzurri, con delicati fiocchi di neve, con pizzi, sciarpe e cappottini per stare caldi mentre giocano nella neve.
Sarà il nuovo film della Disney che fra poco arriverà al cinema (Frozen), sarà l'ultimo libro del mondo Tilda (Tildas Vintergleder), nel quale candidi orsi polari contendono i ghiacci ad angeli pattinatori, saranno i colori che adoro (bianco, azzurro e grigino, che fanno così inverno)....
Poi invece, al momento di tagliare e cucire, sono tornata ai colori più caldi natalizi del verde e bianco.
Ma un angolino della mia mente continuava a pensare ai fiocchi di neve che cadono leggeri...

Così, l'altra sera, ho deciso al volo per questi due angeli, il primo con un vestito avorio e due gonne sovrapposte, una bianca e una in pizzo pianco con delicati pois.
Il bordino del vestito è in oro e ha una bella sciarpona in morbida lana bianca.

 La sua amica, invece ha un vestito azzurro polvere, una gonna in azzurro con i fiocchi di neve e anche lei una seconda gonna in pizzo a pois.
Il bordo dell'abito è un nastrino morbido simil pelliccia e anche lei ha la sua bella sciarpa bianca.

I could not resist.
My idea for this winter was to create only blue and white angels and fairies, with delicate snowflake dresses, laces, soft scarves and coat to keep them warm while playing on the snow.
Maybe it's the new Disney film coming soon at the cinema (Frozen), maybe it's the last Tilda book (Tildas Vintergleder) in which white polar bears play on the ice with skating angels, maybe it's just the delicate colours that I love and that are so winter-ish!!!
So last night I created these two angels, the first one ha an ivory dress and two skirts, one in white cotton and the other one in a white polka dots lace. The border of the dress is in gold ribbon and she wears a big soft white scarf.

Her friend, instead has a powder blue dress, a bue skirt with snowflakes and a second one in the same white polka dots lace. The border of her dress is a white fake fur and she also has a big scarf.

 Vederle entrambe, con queste gonne vaporose, e i colori delicati mi riempie di gioia!!!

Christmas Lab - Lady Poinsettia

Eccomi qui, di nuovo dopo qualche giorno di latitanza.
Oggi vi presento uno dei lavori che mi hanno dato più soddisfazione quest'anno: l'angelo Lady Poinsettia.
Volevo lavorare un po' sul solito angelo Tilda, quello che fra tutti preferisco, e renderlo un po' più in tema con la stagione che arriva.
Allora ho pensato ad un abito stile '700, in velluto (bordeaux, verde scuro o marrone), con sottogonna in beige decorata da piccoli fiocchi di neve. Sia lungo la scollatura che lungo l'apertura della gonna il profilo è una passamaneria dorata.
I capelli sono lunghi e biondi e raccolti in morbide code che appoggiano sulle spalle. Ovviamente hanno le alucce, bianche, se no che angeli sarebbero??
Ciò che dà loro il nome sono delle stelle di Natale tutte luccicanti che tengono fra le mani.
Anche se il velluto è stato un incubo da lavorare (viste anche le dimensioni ridotte), queste signorine eleganti mi piacciono molto!!!

Three Lady Poinsettia

Here we are again!
Today I want to introduce to you one of the crafts that gave me more joy in doing them: the Lady Poinsettia Angel.
I wanted to work on my best loved Tilda angel, but I wanted to give them a special Christmas touch.
So I thought of a XVIII century style dress, in velvet (burgundy, dark green or brown) with a gown in a delicate ivory with some small snowflakes. On the borders it has a line of gold ribbon.

Their hair is long and blonde and tied up in two soft ponytails. They obviously have a pair of white wings, otherwise they wouldn't be anges, would they??
What gives them their name is a beautiful glittery poinsettia that they carry in their hands.

I hated to sew velvet, also due to the small dimension of the dress, but on the whole, i totally love these elegant ladies, wouldn't you???

Christmas Lab - Snowman Country Wreath (limited edition)

Frosty the Snowman, was a jolly happy soul

Per creare la giusta atmosfera natalizia, mentre lavoro nel mio piccolo laboratorio, spesso ascolto canzoni di Natale. Adoro le canzoni di Natale (vero, Betti???)... Sia le "Traditional Carols", più serie, che le canzoni per bambini, gioiose che  rallegrano il cuore. Mi piace trovare le versioni dei Big della musica, che hanno prestato la loro voce a queste melodie magiche e senza tempo.

In these days, in which I'm working for Christmas in my small lab, I often listen to Christmas songs to create the right feeling. I love Christmas songs, both the traditional Carols and the joyful children songs. I love to look for the ones sung by the Big Artists (you know like Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, but also Sting, Zucchero, and Bruce...) who gave their voices to these magic melodies.

Ieri sera guardavo due nude ghirlande di polistirolo, due gomitoli di ciniglia (acquisto impulsivo e chiaramente sbagliato....) e piano piano si è fatta strada nella mia mente la canzone di Frosty, l'omino di neve. E' stato un lampo. Per prima cosa ho avvolto la ciniglia, che fa un bell'effetto "agnellino", sulle ghirlandine. Poi ho tagliato due omini di neve in cotone bianco, li ho imbottiti e ho tirato fuori lane ed uncinetto per fare due sciarpine.
Quando sono andata a letto sulla scrivania troneggiavano queste due ghirlande, in attesa del tocco finale: i bottoncini di legno, i nasi di feltro e i fiocchetti un po' rustici, per enfatizzare il sapore country della ghirlanda.

Yesterday evening I was looking at two bare polystyrene wreaths, two chenille balls (impulsive and obviously wrong purchase....) and in my mind it started to sound "Frosty the Snowman". It was immediate! First of all I wrapped the wreaths with the yarn, then I cut out of white cotton fabric two little snowmen, filled them with batting and I took out of the magic box some wool and my crochet hook for the two scarves.
When I went to bed on my desk there were these two beauties, waiting for the final touch: the wooden buttons, the felt noses and some matching ribbons, to enchance the country style of the wreaths.

A volte mi capita di immaginare un oggetto finito e realizzarlo nel giro di qualche ora, ma mai velocemente come questi!!
Per la ghirlanda beige ero indecisa se abbinare un omino di neve o un gingerbread.... poi ho pensato che di omini di neve non ne faccio mai! Era la sua occasione. Per il gingerbread non è escluso che prima o poi andrà a tenere loro compagnia, chissà....

I sometimes happen to think of a project, see it clearly in my mind and realize it in a couple of hours, but never quickly as this one!
For the beige wreath I have been in doubt for a while if putting on a snowman or a gingerbread, but then I thought I never create snowmen and this one was the perefect occasion!! And maybe the gingerbread will come soon to keep them company!!

Christmas Lab - Pixies and Fairies

Chi aiuta Babbo Natale a riempire la sua slitta di regali?
Chi lo aiuta a controllare sul suo librone chi si è comportato bene durante l'anno e chi invece è stato un po' monello?? Ecco i suoi aiutanti più piccini!

Who helps Santa filling his sledge with presents?
Who helps him control on his big book who's been naughty or nice?
Here we are his tiniest helpers.


Piccole e delicate fatine, con la gonna a palloncino in cotone dalle fantasie natalizie decorata da un giro di pizzo. Hanno le ali larghe in feltro e i capelli raccolti in due codini.

There are small and delicate fairies, with a beautiful lace decorated gown in christmas-themed cotton. They have wide felt wings and ponytails.

Folletti cicciotti che passano il resto dell'anno a sperimentare le migliori ricette di biscotti alle spezie e in questo periodo si affannano intorno ai regali nei loro morbidi vestiti in pile rosso o bianco, decorato da una fascia a fantasie natalizie, bottoncini in tinta e un bordo a pom-pom. In testa portano un alto cappello a punta.

Or there are chubby pixies, who spend the rest of the year tasting the best spices cookies and now they rush around the presents in their soft white or red pile dresses, with a christmassy fabric decoration, matching buttons and pointed hat.

Che ne dite? Li vedete che stanno iniziando a lavorare febbrilmente perchè tutto sia pronto per la notte magica??

Christmas Lab - Country Fabric Panels

Buongiorno!
Ma come... già si parla di Natale? Ebbene, quest'anno non voglio farmi trovare impreparata, così ho già iniziato a preparare i miei piccoli lavori, in modo da non dover passare notti alzata a cucire nelle settimane cruciali!

Oggi vi presento il primo dei lavori che della collezione Natale 2013: dei piccoli pannelli da appendere in puro stile country. Country per me sono le distese di grano dell'Oklahoma, le torte di mele del Kansas e la gente genuina che abita da quelle parti.
Ho trovato questo tessuto, della disegnatrice Nancy Halvorsen che per me si abbinava alla perfezione. Ho quindi creato questi piccoli pannelli imbottiti ed impunturati a mano con filo da ricamo in oro o argento, da appendere grazie ad un supporto di legno e un cordino in rafia grezza, il tutto abbellito da bottoni in tinta.
Che ve ne pare? Io mi sono innamorata all'istante di questi soggetti... uno più bello dell'altro!

Hi there!
Well.. are we already talking about Christmas?? Well, this year I want to be well prepared in advance to avoid spending nights sewing in the last weeks before Xmas...
Today I want to show you  some of the works for the Christmas 2013 collection: small fabric panels you can hang on your wall or on a door in a pure country style!

To me country is the wide corn fields in Oklahoma, Kansas's apple pies ad the genuine peopole who live in those lands. I found this fabric by the lovely stylist Nancy Halvorsen that match the country idea perfectly.
So I created these small panels, filled with batting, which can be hung by a small wooden stick and decorated by matching small buttons.
What do you think??? I fell in love with these drawings at one....

A breve poterò anche le foto delle altre creazioni natalizie: Babbi Natale, folletti cicciottelli o alti alti, delicate fatine, angeli un po' vintage, altri piccoli soggetti da appendere all'albero di Natale o a un pacchettino o come decoro per la casa e poi... e poi altre novità in maglia o per la casa!!
